The fish seem to enjoy the strong current coming out of Back Bay into Wolfeboro Bay due to the recent rains. Fishermen have reported catching many large salmon and bass off the Town docks.This is good news for the Winni Fishing Derby this weekend. Prizes for the derby include a 2006 Lund 1775 Classic Sport boat for the Largest Lake Salmon.
The high waters may be good for fishing but is not so good for the Smith River Canoe Race scheduled for Saturday May 20th. This year the race will be restricted to Lake Wentworth. Read more about the race at The Lake Wentworth Association website.
