Forum slow? 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Maybe it's just me, but does the forum seem very slow lately? All the other sites I visit are just as fast as ever but it seem this forum's pages are almost like watching paint dry and it's only been for the last couple of weeks.

Keith, any explanation?

All systems seem operational. I checked out site stats and we are in a tiny bit of a slump today but nothing near as slow as it has been before. Our avegage site traffic has actually gone up from last year.

I think it's the nice weather.

I think it is the personalities that respond to each and every post.

Some of them need to get a life.

Skipper,

Maybe I'm wrong but I think Wildman was talking about how long it takes to go from one topic to the next when you click on the post. I have noticed that it seems to take longer to bring up different threads and then to follow that thread so that you get the correct flow.

Then maybe wildman thnks that it is unusually quite lately.

Wildman, what do you mean by being slow?

Also Skipper, could you tell us who the personalities are that you think respond to much to the posts?

I'm on dial-up, so it's never been fast and is the slowest of all my daily sites. At least it's stopped locking up my screen since the changeover.

I think it's the various banners and other graphics that take time to load for each page. If that's the case, it'd be nice to "unselect" the graphics for us regular forum visitors.

Your statement is a generalized attack on some of the members here. It's a violation of this forum's rules. (Reminder).

Solution:

If you are experiencing angst within "each and every post", try starting a thread of interest to yourself: Be prepared to defend your position.

You may find yourself appreciative of the occasional "bump" your thread receives from "some" of us.

Re:Forum slow? 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
skipper, some of us try to keep the site going too. When it gets quiet, it is easy not to respond but that doesn't keep it going.
A few days ago, I noticed it was slow, the last few days, it seems better.
I would still like to have it go to the LAST post on the last page when you click on the post. I find I am using the forum not the latest posts as all of them are there on the main forum list.

Wildman - it's because LS said I had a big fat mouth and someone else said posters don't have a life so I stopped posting for a week or more + and things died out.

I guess I'm the controversial one who keeps everyone thinking and posting but I find that if I don't give any fodor to be discussed then noone else chimes in either.

What are your life observations - what's going on in your world we can discuss?

Maybe I didn't make myself very clear in my post. I meant that the site is slow to respond. I am on high speed cable and almost all the sites I visit pop up very quickly. But this forum appears quite slow in comparison to other sites.

Skipper, some us do bite each other once in a while but all of us already have a life. We don't need to get one.

Wildman,

It was clear to me what you meant!

Why? Because I am having the same problem, and I am on high speed cable.

Look at that - all the miscreants (except OC)!

There truly are only a handful of participants on this forum.

One has to wonder why.

Because we love each other, skipper? And anyone that joins!

I went to bed still laughing about the double meaning posts here. And I still think it's funny. Thanks for the laugh skipper.

But now I am beginning to wonder how skipper REALLY took wildman's post. Did you think he meant slow as in not many people posting, skipper?

I can tell you there are times like lately when the forum is slow and a few keep it going. Then there are times when it is very busy and there are lots of posters. And I also can tell you right now, the times it is the busiest is when it is a controversial topic.

I thought my original post was pretty easy to understand and didn't realize that some folks needed to be lead by the nose and have things explained to them in extreme detail. Common sense seems to be in short supply these days.
