New Hurricane for New Orleans? 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Well if the talking heads on cable are right and a Cat 3 or 4 hurricane comes ashore near New Orleans, isn't it time to tell ol' Ray the mayor, to turn out the lights and shut the door? How much more must federal taxpayers pay to rebuild levees and repair damage to a city that is below sea level? And what property insurance company will do business if another major storm decimates the city, the second in three years?

It is time to cut our losses and stop subsidizing ocean front disastors that happen over and over again. This includes not only New Orleans but the entire coastal plain where houses are swept away or damaged severely and then rebuilt time and time again. Make a national park out of New Orleans or at least any part that isn't higher than 50 feet above mean sea level.

It's closing in on category 5 now, this is scary stuff. I hope they get that city emptied out this weekend!

Wow, that is scary. Those poor people. Let's hope it slows down by some miracle!

Mayor Nagen was previously waiting for the NOAA to advise him of Katrina. (According to him).

He failed to put thousands of New Orleans school buses into action for Katrina evacuations, and they ended up under water!

As I understood it, major insurance companies sleazed out of paying claims from the non-flood wind damage that occurred in Louisiana and Mississippi as a result of Katrina, so they've little to worry about this time as well.
And billions have already been spent on the levees, it would seem that they'd better hold this time or else why did we bother? Levees that can't hold shouldn't cost billions.
At least they're not going to use the Louisiana Superdome for an emergency shelter this time around.

Insurance companies that didn't "sleaze" their way out of Florida simply packed up and left! That included the formerly solid State Farm Insurance, which today only covers autos in Florida.

The State of Florida now runs a "Medicare-style" consortium of homeowners insurance carriers. If you still want windstorm coverage today, it will run you $3000-extra annually: many mobile homes remain uninsured. Most other homeowners can't carry those prices (formerly only $300 with State Farm). I don't—by choice.

Katrina also brought death to those unlucky enough to require critical care in hospitals:

QUOTE:
"...[A spokesman] said the women put desperately ill patients to death using a lethal injection of drugs, after determining the patients were either too ill or too incapacitated to be moved. In an interview with 60 Minutes, he acknowledged some of the patients had 'do not resuscitate orders' but 'Do not resuscitate does not mean do not rescue.'

"The women, backed by many medical professionals, deny wrongdoing; Pou has said she was trying to ease the patients' pain, not kill them..."

On the Drudge Report (who broke Monica Lewinsky), former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler has been caught on video saying Hurricane Gustav will bring joy to the Democrat Party!

I think everyone in Fl. who has State Farm or any other insurance co who will only insure what they consider "safe" things, should drop their insurance with them and buy only from companies who will do it all! Insurance companies make me so mad, they only want to collect, never to pay. Fine, they shouldn't lose money but they don't want to pay ANYTHING!
