A couple of people have asked me if I knew when the new site was coming up. When I said it was already up, they were surprised. I think that is why it is so quiet. People don't know where to find us. I know I keep it under my favorites and it won't work from there.
Keith, is there a way when the old site comes up saying it is down for maintenance, that you can direct them to this new site so they will know? Thanks.

I am getting used to it. I suppose it is still a work in progress. I don't like that there are only a few posts on a page, and I find the "latest posts" not as easy. Course because we don't have many people posting, it might make it seem like it is not working as well. I do like that you can click on the last post and it goes to the end not to the beginning.

Oh, I also like the quick reply.

Having read Tis' comment about the lack of activity on this forum, I WAS going to post my agreement that something was wrong. But then, when I clicked on reply I got a message saying that I wasn't logged in. I tried to log in with what I'm quite sure was my original user name and password but each time I got a message that read, "wrong user name or password". Normally, since I'd previously clicked on the "remember me" box, logging in wasn't a necessary step in the first place. I finally applied for a new password and once that came via email I changed my password back to my original one. Hence, I finally am here again. I've posted this saga only because perhaps the trouble I experienced tonight is related to the current lack of fresh posts.

The unfortunate side effect of this is that your custom avatars are missing. The plugin that displayed you avatars was causing the problems so I had to remove it.

There is a new avatar uploader located in your profile. Click "your profile" in the user menu on the right. Then click "my avatar" to upload or reupload your avatar.

If you want you original avatar back and can't find it let me know and I will try to dig it up and plug it in for you.

Ralph - I'm liking it. It's taking a bit to get used to but it's making sense to me now. I also like being able to have a new Avitar.

My only suggestion is that when you go to the link that says show latest posts - the blue on grey doesn't show up very well. I looked for a long time before I realized that's where it said 4 hours 12 hours 24 hours etc. Perhaps you could make that another color then cobalt blue - yellow, white, something with contrast might be easier on the eyes.

Lack of activity on certain users like Tis might be because she has it cached in her favorites. I type it in new everytime and have no problem.

That's what I think, DF. Anyone who uses their favories think it is still down. If you type it in new you will know. That's why maybe Keith or Ralph could put a note on the old one redirecting them. I know, just one more thing for you poor guys to do. Thanks guys, we love it and DO appreciate all your hard work!!!!!


I have had my avitar for so long, I CAN'T change it! It's become a part of me. So I fixed it with the same one. Boring, huh?

mac, I never cared for those karma things either. I don't know who takes the time to use them. It seems kind of childish to me.

It's definately a popularity contest because it carries thru each post not just the item being discussed.

My two comments -

The "latest posts" doesn't show the very latest posts for me. Posts from today for instance, are not listed.

Also the "when posted" line at the top of each post can be confusing when it trails down to the next line with just the last two words "minutes" for instance, when thee whole line reads "three days and nineteen
minutes"

Thanks, Tis and Dragonfly. I didn't notice the thumbs up/down for the karma or realize it was voting. Sounds a bit junior high, I think.

I'm going to try again on the avitar. The one I had was looked fine in a small size but was too eye-catching. It shouldn't be the first thing you see on a page, I think.

You are right skipper. I would have sworn the last post came up but it isn't now. I noticed that right after I posted that last post. I don't know if it was working and then didn't or if it was my imagination?? I also agree with you about the when posted thing. I still don't like the latest posts thing. The other one was so nice and easy.

mac, I think it is junior high too, but I think a lot of forums do it. I don't think that many people even use it.

awol, give it time, we will get used to it. I do wish we could have more posts on a page though, you wouldn't have to go to "next" so much. I think we will all find our way to manuever through the way that is easiest for each of us.

I changed the color of the latest posts links. You may have to reload the page to see the new colors (ctrl-f5).

Karma has been removed. I agree it is a little "jr-high". Unfortunately it was enabled by default with this new forum system.
