McCain on the economy 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Arizona is second on a list of the top ten States That Can't Pay for Themselves
http://finance.yahoo.com/loans/article/105909/States-That-Can%27t-Pay-for-Themselves

Arizona Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 19.9%
Gap: $2 billion

Arizona was hit hard by the subprime crisis, and its economy has slowed significantly since mid-2006. Lawmakers, who had to make up a $2 billion budget shortfall for fiscal 2009, reduced the Medicaid rolls, put a freeze on hiring, and cut funding for community health centers and state universities.

Might be one more reason not to vote for McCain. His rethoric about having States handle things doesn't cut it with his own State Budget.

Looks like AZ can pay for themselves?

Didn't have the money to pay for the budget so they cut spending, pretty simple.

You do realize McCain is US Senator from Arizona and that means he has no vote on the State of Arizona budget? That is like blaming the $100 million NH budget shortfall on Shea-Porter.

My Uncle used to write the budget for the State of Arizona and I'll guarantee that McCain's influence and power effects all decisions in his state, just like any Senator. Maybe not as in a line item veto but a phone call here or there sure makes a big difference.

Didn't we just learn that:

If Shea-Porter can't make any phone calls, she should be voted out!
