Can't find anything on the forum about the gas station excavation at Pickering Corner. Lot of excavation for such a small lot. Are we to assume, by the red trucks that say hazmat remediation, that the underground tanks at the station leaked and thus have to be removed? I ask the question for two reasons. First a petroleum leak can well find itself into the water table and secondly it probably migrated out from that small lot so how will the full remediation be done without digging up the whole corner? Anyone have any insight into it? I believe there are a number of LUST (leaking underground storage tanks) issues in Wolfeboro. And no, I didn't make up that acronym, it is a Federal one.

We had pretty rusty water yesterday and the day before although it seems to be ok today.

I thought they were replacing the tanks as a matter of course not because there was a problem ????

There is no leak in the tanks. They are doing regular tank maintenance and new tanks to prevent leaks in the future. They should only be closed for a few more days.

I think by law they have to be replaced every so many years. (10?)

There is some old haz-mat in the soil that is being removed. It is not a new leak.
