Anyone know what's going on with the cast iron Victorian fence from the edge of the water beside dockside resturant?

Who cares? Just take it away and sell it.

Some of us care. I heard it was going to be restored and replaced in the spring when finished.

It's a really valuable piece of Victorian Americana and is supposed to be right there adorning the waterfront. It belongs to the citizens of Wolfeboro and I want to make sure it stays that way. If we don't protect our valuable assets that belong to the town then we might as well move out. Someone obviously didn't know enough or care enough to protect the remainder of the fence so now we have a long stretch of rusty commercial trash fencing instead of the beautiful historical fence which was originally there. I have postcards of when the entire fence ran all the way up to the bridge.

Since I don't have anything to add to the active threads, I'd like to bring up another one that was never answered for me. What is that building that is going up on the old Starlight Hall property? I asked before, but it wasn't addressed, and the discussion seemed to take the usual off-the-beaten path turn, so I would welcome some info. This building is going up very quickly and it appears to be around the same size or bigger than the Hall. Is it a gate house to some fabulous huge estate being built or is going to be a variety store or what? I hate to beat this old dead horse, but it's in my neighborhood and my curiosity is running rampant.

LS. It is just a new building being built as similar as they could come up with to what was there. I think it is just going to be a guest house or whatever. The house in back (down Locust Lane) is actually an old farm, and I don't think that they have any plans to tear it down and or build a new one. If I do hear that I will let you know but I don't think so. Starlight Hall was rotten and they had no choice I have been told.

Thanks for the info Tis. It seems like a lot of work and expense for "just a house". It seems like it is being worked on in full force to get it done as soon as possible. I thought it might end up being a garden spot or something that would beautify the area. That would have been enjoyable.

I seriously doubt if it will be used much.

So Z9fsh - where did you hear this?
It apparently isn't so and has been replaced with a cheaper new reproduction.

:(
I seriously doubt that the new building is cheaper than the last one was. It looks well built to me, a better structure than Starlight Hall.

I am indeed talking about the beautiful, cast iron, Victorian era fence that used to grace the waterfront.
It's one more example of Wolfeboro dicemating itself with bad decision making.

It was confusing there for a while, wasn't it? I wasn't sure what they were talking about either.
The parents that were supposed to use Starlight as a guest house apparently have a sad change of plans. I heard he passed away unexpectedly and so she will live there.
