There is a boiler room operation in Manchester, NH (so they say when asked) that is calling Wolfeboro residents seeking donations "for the brave policeman of NH". When pressed the caller admits he is a fundraiser and not a policeman but steadfastly tries to convince you that your donation will help your local police.

Don't be fooled. A check with Chief Chase yields the following advice: "just hang up on the call". It is not sanctioned by any local or state police organization and is probably a boiler room "for profit" scam. Somehow in bad economic times at the holidays, with the Micheal Briggs shooting trial in all the newspapers, these vultures think they can mine public sentiment to line their own pockets.
