So what do you think all our fellow republicans out there? Did McCain add or detract from his position with his new VP pick....a 44 year old female Palin of Alaska?

Now does she have the experience or wisdom and judgement to take over the Presidency when/if McCain kicks it in the next 4 years?

I didn't know much about her, but I like her spirit!

She'll never make it! There will be some real big crocodile tears before this is over.

I predict her dropping out before the elections.

Anyway, she is way to pretty to be VP.

I think it is brilliant for many reasons. Here is a person who epitomizes the idea anyone can be president. From PTA to City Council to Mayor to Chair of Oil and Gas Commission to Governor. She made it to Governor by taking on her own party and political corruption. What a great way to break the "glass ceiling"!!

Also on experience, at least she has executive experience. Being a member of either house means you can spread the blame and not have to take responsibility. That is not the same as being Governor.

McCain's team has been performing greatly.

Selecting Governor Palin is the beginning of the end for McCain. One article I read has republican insiders very worried about an electoral landslide in November in favor of Obama. It's possible McCain and camp don't want to damage either Governor Pawlenty or Romney in this election so they may seek high office in 4 years. In this vein Governor Palin may just be the sacrificial lamb of the republican party.
The republicans picked the wrong guy anyway, Governor Romney is a lot smarter than McCain is and probably would have given Obama a better run than McCain will. At least Romney knows how many houses he has and sure as heck knows a lot more about the economy.
In a way I'm glad Romney didn't get the nod, we don't need secret service agents crawling around Wolfeboro all the time!

You can't make this stuff up! Is this a great country or what? We have a presidential race that pits an almost unknown young man who is the first African-American to be nominated by a major political party and who only has three years as a US senator coupled with a lifelong Washington hack with a propensity for off the cuff remarks against an aging 72 year old war hero, married to a very wealthy beer distribution heiress and prone to Melonoma coupled with a young unknown Alaska Governor of two years who is a NRA card bearing, ex-union card carrying, NRA loving, hockey mom of five children who says her favorite dish is moose stew.
As Larry the Cable guy is want to say, "I don't care who you are, that is funny!". Certainly will put some spice into our fall season. Can't wait for the Palin/Biden (ladies first my momma always said) debate(s). Somehow I don't think the lady will be demure.

I was always told that anyone could become President of this country. And judging by what we've had in the past eight years is certainly proof of that.

All I know is I did not want to vote for McCain but now I may because of her. I know vp doesn't do much but who knows.

Two years of which he spent running for president. He is a chairman of a sub-committee involved with European relations. He has never called for a meeting.

How did he make $4 million last year? He is a Senator what do they get $200k? Where did the other $3.8 million come from? Pretty good money for someone with his CV.

Latest poll shows McCain/Palin leading Obama/Biden. I am sticking with brilliant move. If she can handle the "big show" of federal politics, McCain is our next president. I don't care what the drive-bys and talking heads say.

You are right, I hope, I am smarter than that, wildman, but I certainly wouldn't vote for Obama given his politics and McCain is only slightly better as I have said before. However, she I WOULD vote for, so I am hoping he is telling us he picked her because his politics are closer to hers than the candidacy would have us believe. I remember him from the old days before he ran for president the first time and he was no where near as left leaning as he is now.

I guess Sarah Palin was so busy being Governor, shooting guns, and talking about Pro-life that she forgot to teach her teenage daughter about abstinence or better yet birth control. Nor did she make the committment to the 5th child with Downs Snydrome. How can she possibly be VP and raise a Downs baby. She didn't do to good with the older ones.

Native-born U.S. citizen.

Must be at least 35 years old.

Must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years.

That's it.

Should we change the Constitution and add some code of conduct?

Who the hell could write them? Our forefathers couldn't, and we sure can't either!

Ms. Palin has one scarce qualification - a good mind.

It is very funny, if it is a democrat who plays funny games in the White House, his personal life doesn't matter. If it is the DAUGHTER of a republican, there is something wrong with her because she doesn't know how to raise her children and therefore is not qualified to be a vp.
You are not a bad person just because your children make mistakes.

If an 18 yr. old is arrsted for drunk driving, does that mean he is the product of bad parenting????
